Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) massage and Non-RMT massage?

RMTs have completed a standardized education program at recognized massage therapy schools. They must pass a licensing examination to become registered. In Toronto, RMTs are regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), which sets high standards for education, training, and professional conduct. They are highly qualified to treat a wide range of conditions, and importantly, their services are covered by health insurance.

Non-RMT massage in Toronto is performed by practitioners who may hold the designation of Holistic Practitioner. Their training can vary widely, and insurance coverage may not be as common.

Are RMT couples massages available?

Absolutely! We provide RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) couples massages. With eight treatment rooms specially designed for couples, providing the perfect setting for partners to enjoy relaxation, rejuvenation, and quality time together with their own dedicated RMT.

Do RMTs only perform therapeutic massage?

While Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are trained and qualified to perform therapeutic massage, which is aimed at addressing specific musculoskeletal issues, injuries, or conditions to promote healing and alleviate pain, they are also skilled in various other types of massage techniques tailored to address diverse needs and preferences. Most of the time, RMTs often employ a combination of different massage techniques during a session. These can include Relaxation Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Prenatal and Postnatal Massage, Swedish Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, and more.

Does direct billing cover everything, or should I expect to pay anything?

While we can assist in direct billing with your insurance company, it’s important to note that not all insurance companies are set up to accept direct billing, and some policies may require doctor’s notes. Therefore, it’s always a good idea to check your insurance plan first to understand the specifics of your coverage and how direct billing will work in your particular case. This way, you can avoid any surprises and ensure a smooth billing process.

Coverage limits are another factor to consider. Depending on your insurance policy, there may be limits on the amount covered per session or per year. This means you need to pay for any remaining balance not covered by your insurance.

Do I need to fill up the form before my first RMT massage treatment?

Yes, we are using an online digital form. So, before your first RMT massage treatment, we will send you an intake form through your email for you to fill out, which includes health history, health conditions, reason for visit, and other information. This helps ensure that your therapist is aware of any specific health concerns or conditions you may have, allowing them to tailor the treatment to your needs. It also helps expedite the check-in process, so you can make the most of your session.
